Bisley Street

Bisley Street is one of the oldest roads in Painswick. Before about 1750, it was the High Street. It has some of the oldest houses in Painswick.

West side, from New Street:
New Hall was a wool hall in 1429
Cup House Cottages (1 and 2) were built on the site of an older building in early 1990s.

Croome House was built early 18th century.


East side, from New Street:
Wickstone was built some 250 years ago. A hundred years ago it included the house next door, Old Fleece, and was known as Dromard.
Little Fleece was originally part of a medieval inn. The existing building is apparently 16th century.
The Chur has a 13th/14th century doorway
Tres Tabernae.
Byfield House was built in 17th century.
Cambray, formerly Cambray House, is some 300 years old.

Painswick Institute was built in 1907 for £3,500.
