Edge Road

Edge Road is one of the old roads in Painswick. A number of its houses date back three or four hundred years, though they have been modified or extended over the years. The boundary between Edge Road and Blakewell Road varies a little on older maps.

North side:
Hazelbury Cottage.
Junipers, previously known as Farthings (1984-87) and The Bungalow (to 1980), was built in the second half of the 1950s.
Hambutts Orchard can be seen on the 1885 map when it was called High Croft. It was also known as Croft House.

Junction with Hambutts
Hambutts Barn can be seen on the 1885 map, but not on the 1839 map.
Hambutts House and Hamfield (1818) are about 200 years old and can be seen on the 1820 map.

Junction with Hambutts Drive
Rudge House and Blakewell House were built between 1923 and 1936.
Double Gates, previously known as The Laurels (to 1948), was built in the early 1930s.

South side:
May Cottage and Little Jasmine Cottage, the latter previously known as "2", are two old cottages.
Dry Knapps House is about 300 years old.
Dry Knapp Farm.
Edge Cottage, known as Ivy Villa until about 1948, is thought to have been built c 1890, though older maps show a building on this site.
Hambutts Mynd and Highfold were built c 1810.
