Friday Street (Bell Street)

Friday Street is one of the old roads in Painswick. Prior to about 1910, it was known as Bell Street. Some stray bombs in 1941 destroyed a number of the old houses.

Northwest side:
The Weavers House has 17th century ashlar stonework.
Thorne and The Gables were originally part of an old market hall, and date back to the 17th Century.
The Catholic Church was converted in 1934, suffered bomb damage in 1941 and was mostly rebuilt by 1956.
Bell House lies on the site of the Bell Hotel which was also destroyed in 1941.
Bellstone House was built c2003.
Bell Cottage, formerly known as Bella Vista.
Coombe House, formerly known as Ingleside.

Southeast side:
Nurses House, Eversley, Gattamora, formerly called New House Too (to 2007), and New House were built in c1953 following bomb damage in 1941.
