Northwest side: The Weavers House has 17th century ashlar stonework. Thorne and The Gables were originally part of an old market hall, and date back to the 17th Century. The Catholic Church was converted in 1934, suffered bomb damage in 1941 and was mostly rebuilt by 1956. Bell House lies on the site of the Bell Hotel which was also destroyed in 1941.
