Hale Lane

Hale Lane is one of the old roads in Painswick. A number of its houses date back three or four hundred years, though they have been modified or extended over the years.

West side:
Court House dates back to about 1604.
Part of The Cottage can be seen on the 1820 map.
Court Garden Cottage was built between 1923 and 1936.
Part of Stables Cottage, previously known as Benwell (to 2005) and The Coach House can be seen on the 1820 map. They were part of the Castle Hale estate.


East side:
Court Cottage and Hale Cottage can both be seen on the 1820 map.
The Churn was built c1830 on site of an older building.
Churn Cottage can also be seen on the 1820 map. It originally comprised two cottages (one with an entrance in Kemps Lane).
